SEEN went to see the Present Imperfect: Disorderly Apparel Reconfigured
exhibition at the Fashion Space Gallery within the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London.
SEEN had the good fortune of dining at Blacklock City recently. Just off East Cheap in the heart of the city, it was packed with city workers enjoying the chop-based menu. Indeed there was so much meat that SEEN felt positively Falstaffian, half-expecting her meal to be borne to the table on a trencher.
As a delightful contrast to haute couture and certainly an antidote to dullness in all its guises, the playful, DIY aesthetic currently emboldening much London style can be seen in the work of Matty Bovan. Though based in Yorkshire, the digital world in which we live ensures that Matty’s instinctual, textile-led style is having an influence in the capital.
SEEN is positively giddy with excitement over the lineup for this year’s Primavera Sound, taking place from 31st May to the 4th June.
SEEN is already mixing the martinis in anticipation of a show that, according to some, advanced LGBTQ+ acceptance into the mainstream, as no other. Yes, Will Grace, and Karen are back! Their fabulous trailer mercilessly mocks the whole concept of a ‘comeback’ with the show’s trademark sniping, undermining, play on words, ‘It means AirBoy-on-Boy!’ and even a barnstorming Broadway-style number.
SEEN has been enjoying the guitar-driven quirky musical stylings of the talented Courtney Barnett. Typically infectious, barnstorming and deadpan, “How To Boil An Egg” is a standalone brand new track from the critically lauded singer-songwriter.
