Fever-Tree’s Very Own Gin School

London has always had an enthusiastic relationship with gin; right from the days when the water was undrinkable, gin has become the city’s tipple of choice. Imagine SEEN’s joy therefore, when we heard that this month, gin and tonic experts, Fever-Tree, is launching its very own Fever-Tree Gin School.

Bufle: Launch of the Bubble-Waffle

SEEN has heard much of the phenomenon of the Asian Bubble-Waffle and thus was very keen to sample this Hong Kong import for herself. My guest and I found ourselves in a bright, buzzy bar/café with tables and plenty of counters and high stools. It’s in Rupert Street, between Soho and busy Leicester Square.

Arthur Hooper’s Weekend Brunch

SEEN has been a huge fan of Arthur Hooper’s since their May opening. It’s handily located close to Borough Market (where much of their ingredients are sourced), so it is with great delight that we hear weekend brunches are now on the menu too.

Crab Tavern at Broadgate Circle

SEEN doesn’t often venture into bustling Broadgate Circle (just behind Liverpool Street Station) but feels she must amend this situation in the future. Amid a welter of eateries from the extremely fashionable to the cheerfully cheap sits the excellent Crab Tavern, which, like many restaurants in London manages to give local office workers and hungry travellers an inexpensive yet fine dining experience.

If, like SEEN, you won’t be venturing abroad this year then fear not, this summer, contemporary Spanish restaurant aqua nueva will transport you to the Balearic Islands as Ibiza’s hippy sister, Formentera, comes to London. In partnership with Cîroc Vodka, aqua nueva’s Formentera Terrace brings the island’s relaxed vibe to its Regent Street rooftop for the summer season.

Lovers of that most British institution, the Glorious twelfth need look no further than Wiltons for a feast of fresh grouse. The iconic, London restaurant that is older than America celebrates its 275th anniversary in 2017. Wiltons, a quintessentially British classic and the creation of George William Wilton, was first established in St James’s in 1742 as a stall, selling oysters, shrimps and cockles.

Cocktails at the General Store

SEEN is tireless in her cocktail research, and very much enjoyed travelling to Highbury last week to try The General Store’s new summer cocktail menu and to check out the new interior. She was delighted to sample a Honey Mimosa, very sweet and fruity and just the ticket after a hot journey. It was, as its name suggests, a Mimosa with just a touch of honey.
