Last year was the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Showtime furniture line. It was a great series. For this season, acclaimed designer Jaime Hayon has been working with the Spanish brand BD Barcelona Design and relaunched new versions. Designs have been revamped with new materials, fabrics and finishes. As ever, Hayon’s quirky, fun take has been embodied in a line that has lots of personality.
The first thing that strikes you about Jaime Hayon – the man and his work – is how much fun they both are. Hayon’s work is currently gracing the BD Barcelona showroom in Berry Street, Clerkenwell, bringing the warmth of Spain into an autumnal London.
SEEN loves to see the beautiful designs that grace the Salone di Mobile. Very often these pieces make their way to Britain and particularly to London, so we keep a keen eye on the prestigious design fair.
It’s not even summer yet, and SEEN has found a very good reason to look forward to welcoming winter again. The reason being that it’s when Bisazza’s latest mineral inspired collections, launched during Salone del Mobile 2017, will be available from their London showroom.
On the 25th of April, The London Design Festival launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring Visionary Crazy Golf to London’s Trafalgar Square. From 16th – 22nd September 2016, coinciding with the Festival itself, a fun, free and futuristic Crazy Golf course will fill Trafalgar Square with Pop Art colours and avant-garde forms with holes by nine distinguished designers, including Paul Smith, the late Zaha Hadid, Mark Wallinger, and Tom Dixon.
SEEN was very struck by how consistently good and interesting Bowie’s collection was. Such a shame he’s not still here. He could have easily set up a permanent museum of his own to rival the Saatchi Gallery.
