Putting the ‘hip’ in ‘chips’: seen reviews

Leave it to HipChips to ring the seasonal changes with their roster of dips. For April it was the turn of Wild Garlic and Romesco to join the menu. The crisps themselves are superlative, all different types of potato, sweet and/or salty and produced within the UK. HipChips’ chef concocts the dips at his Wales HQ and the staff at the shop test them every day for quality control – a tough job but someone’s got to do it. The Wild Garlic dip was rich and hearty while the Romesco had a good amount of heat and sweet tomato flavour. They’re two flavours that complement each other very well.

To drink, SEEN had a Gingerella (with a paper straw before you ask). These retro glass bottles are worth keeping. It’s a great bolthole on Old Compton Street and was very quiet at the time of SEEN’s visit. I can only imagine what it’s like on Friday and Saturday nights… The staff there are just lovely and told me there’s even phone-charging points under the seats. HipChips may become SEEN’s new office.
