Ruth Royall: ‘Heart on Fire’ & Hootananny live date – 24th February

Bristol-based singer-songwriter, Ruth Royall released a new single ‘Heart On Fire’ on the 9th of February 2018.

The follow up to her recent ‘4U’ debut single, was recorded and self produced in the singer’s hometown and is available digitally through all the usual major outlets. Check out her fabulous video here:

Ruth’s nu soul/jazz sound is layered with electronic influences and beats that stem from an upbringing in Bristol and captures all that’s good about the city’s celebrated and rich musical legacy. Fluctuating from dark and delicate to a strangely uplifting mood, Royall also encompasses Billie Holiday, Etta James and Sade together with more recent personal obsessions like Submotion Orchestra, Zero 7, Jamie Woon and Nikka Costa.

Ruth Royall grew up in a really creative environment and this was the spark that gave her the encouragement and inspiration to sing and write music before she really knew how. After a few years of experimenting and developing her sound she became an established face on the Bristol music scene and has since toured Europe and the UK, play Glastonbury Festival, The Jazz Cafe, and The Roundhouse.

Royall has attracted the attention of the likes of Mo Pleasure (Earth Wind and Fire), Ian Mathews (Kasabian), Jeremy Vine (BBC Radio 2) and Robert Elms (BBC London) while the aforementioned ‘4U’ single saw her lauded by Velvet Sheep, Bristol Live Magazine, Tap The Feed, Found Magazine and BBC Introducing West.
Currently putting the finishing touches to her debut EP, Ruth and her band line up of Anders Olinder (Keys), Emma Holbrook (Drums), Harry Stoneham (Guitar), Nick Robinson (Saxophone), Sam Woollcott (Trombone) and Ranoah (Backing Vocals) are set to play the following live shows in the coming months.
