Bring a Picture of Your First Love to Bobby Fitzpatrick: Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day (Wednesday 14th Feb) naturally makes us reflect back on our first loves: to reminisce about the frilly carnations that were left in school lockers, the heart-shaped notes scribbled into exercise books and tentative hand-holding at the school disco. For those feeling nostalgic, 1970s bar Bobby Fitzpatrick in West Hampstead will be giving away a free ‘Alison Mahoney’ cocktail to anyone that brings a picture of their first love or childhood sweetheart to the bar.

The cocktails at Bobby Fitzpatrick’s are all anecdotally drawn from chapters of Bobby’s personal history and the ‘Alison Mahoney’, a spiced rum concoction, was created in homage to Bobby’s date to senior prom and first love, Alison. With this sweet but fiery ginger classic, Bobby Fitzpatrick is encouraging Londoners to raise a toast to their childhood sweethearts, first loves and the one that got away this Valentine’s Day.

Downstairs in the lounge, Bobby Fitzpatrick will also be hosting a ‘Meet The Ambassador’ night from 7pm, which offers a chance to the meet the Angostura ambassador and to try the delicious range of rums. With free entry, a free glass of rum punch upon arrival and a menu of Angostura cocktails to try, including an Angostura Old Fashioned (Angostura 1919, demerara, bitters – £10), the evening will be a fun boozy date for couples and friends alike.

Drawing inspiration from the eccentricities, hoarding habits and lively spirit of Bobby himself, the bar is ashamedly inspired by the seventies aesthetic (nothing to be ashamed of there in SEEN’s opinion…), Bobby Fitzpatrick’s distinct rooms – kitchen, lounge and living room – all feature original wallpaper and furniture from the decade, as well as autographed photographs of celebrities such as Cher and Olivia Newton John, board games including Happy Days and other 70s memorabilia.
