Winter at Skylight in Tobacco Dock: It’s Starting to Feel like Christmas

Well, who would have guessed it? When SEEN heard that Skylight, a delightful rooftop pop up we had enjoyed in the summer was to transform itself for the colder months, we were frankly sceptical. We are, however, more than happy to be proved wrong. The levels have adapted spendidly, bringing a rink, comfy fur-covered chairs and stools and loads of tables, a small ice hockey goal and transparent windbreaks to shelter guests. We were pleased to note lots of warm blankets around. London twinkled over the wall, as the DJ bathed our ears in the latest sounds and skaters showed off their moves.

There was fondue and Greek street food available for the hungry. SEEN confined herself to an Apple Crumble cocktail, which was sweet and spicy and had ACTUAL CRUMBLE on it. It was delicious. As they approach Christmas, mulled wine and ciders are on offer, along with beer and cocktails. It’s free to get in and special events are promised later in the season. Great fun.

From the beautiful yet disquieting pop surrealist art that is the passion of gallery director Alexandra Mazzanti, to the welcoming gallery itself complete …

Alice Savoie was chosen by a panel of experts following …
