Arlo & Jacob at Decorex: Heritage and Modernity

SEEN hears that Arlo & Jacob has launched its first collaboration with House & Garden, the iconic magazine. The elegant, hand-crafted House & Garden Collection will be on display at Decorex International 17th – 20th September, which is celebrating its own 40th anniversary.

The House & Garden team brought their expert eyes to bear on a range of a beautiful furniture that is also luxuriously comfortable to sit on, but bang up to date in style.

The collection is made in Arlo & Jacob’s base in Long Eaton, and stands out for its innate comfort, smart painted legs and generous proportions. It encapsulates a very particular English Country House style but for the 21st century. SEEN’s favourite is the Holmes Sofa in green with its plush cushions. The collection includes 6 designs: 3 sofas in a range of sizes; 2 chairs; and a small and large ottoman, all available in 20 fabrics chosen by House & Garden as well as 120 of Arlo & Jacob’s own house fabrics.

As Hatta Byng (Editor of House & Garden) commented: ‘Change the fabric and each of these designs could make the chicest of statements in a sophisticated town house.’

The Castle at the Space: SEEN Reviews

SEEN was not that familiar with the work of Howard Barker prior to seeing ‘The Castle’ but feels she must rectify that situation. A powerful piece on the nature of masculinity, war, gender roles and the essential unreliability of religious faith, ‘The Castle’ benefits from a powerhouse cast and a stripped-back set, making the most of the Space’s environment.
