Quaglinos Launches Q Legends

Mayfair’s luxury venue Quaglino’s launches Q Legends, a homage to iconic stars from the stage and screen, as part of their debut summer series. Kick-starting on 18th July through to 31st August, Q Legends encapsulates the vibrant history of Quaglino’s from the booming 1920s to the present day, via an eclectic mix of entertainment from live music to movies.

SEEN was simply staggered by the interior of Quaglino’s, that extended into a beautiful twinkling space where you can dine and drink. It was extremely glamorous and atmospheric and felt rather like a film set. It’s certainly a place to see and be seen, as the photographers outside waited for celebrities to arrive.

Bringing soul to Mayfair the summer series includes a star live music line up of Alexander O’Neal, George McCrae and Rose Royce’s Gwen Dickey, plus a special performance as a tribute to the legendary Whitney Houston. Alexander O’Neal will be performing a special live set on Thurs 27th July. With his name, firmly in the R&B history books, Alexander O’Neal has been entertaining audiences for over twenty-five years. The American artist has achieved acclaimed success with his smash hit ‘Criticize’ and has enjoyed success with his top ten hits as well as a triple platinum album.

The Godfather, La La Land and the Great Gatsby will be the legendary favourites screened as part of a deluxe menu and movie evening. Sit back and relax with wireless headphones whilst being served a bespoke sharing menu inspired by each film alongside fizz and wine.

The entertainment continues with a murder mystery event inspired by legendary detectives Inspector Clouseau from Pink Panther and Poirot on Wed 23rd August. Fans of the whodunnit genre can join the immersive theatre production and whilst solving clues can enjoy a decadent three course meal alongside Quaglino’s finest cocktails.

Throughout the summer series, Quaglino’s legendary mixologists have created an exciting array of luxurious cocktails, that celebrate the icons of past and present and Quaglino’s heritage. Launched in 1929, at the height of American prohibition, Quaglino’s has stood the test of time through the decades and famous faces that have frequented the doors. A selection of wine and champagne inspired by iconic stars across the decades will be served throughout as part of the Q Legends experience.

The new cocktail menu includes fresh exquisite cocktails such as The Martinez, named after The Grand Martinez Hotel where the founder Giovanni Quaglino first worked as a maître d’hôtel. The Grand Opening themed on the restaurant which was open in 1929 by and quickly became a favourite haunt of royalty. The Hutch, a tribute to Leslie ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson, one of the most popular cabaret entertainers of the twentieth century who took London’s café society by storm and regularly performed at Quaglino’s and not forgetting the star of the menu The Time Machine. SEEN tried the champagne, which was delicious.

The climax of the Summer Series ends with the pairing of two iconic artists that will see disco fans dancing on the tables on Thursday 31st August. Disco supreme George McCrae, the innovator of the classic “Miami Sound” and one of the biggest selling pop records in history – ‘Rock Your Baby’. George McCrae will be joined by Rose Royce’s Gwen Dickie, queen of the 70s classics ‘Wish Upon a Star’, ‘Car Wash’ and ‘Love Don’t Live Here Anymore’.

Fever-Tree’s Very Own Gin School

London has always had an enthusiastic relationship with gin; right from the days when the water was undrinkable, gin has become the city’s tipple of choice. Imagine SEEN’s joy therefore, when we heard that this month, gin and tonic experts, Fever-Tree, is launching its very own Fever-Tree Gin School.

Bufle: Launch of the Bubble-Waffle

SEEN has heard much of the phenomenon of the Asian Bubble-Waffle and thus was very keen to sample this Hong Kong import for herself. My guest and I found ourselves in a bright, buzzy bar/café with tables and plenty of counters and high stools. It’s in Rupert Street, between Soho and busy Leicester Square.

Arthur Hooper’s Weekend Brunch

SEEN has been a huge fan of Arthur Hooper’s since their May opening. It’s handily located close to Borough Market (where much of their ingredients are sourced), so it is with great delight that we hear weekend brunches are now on the menu too.
