Rock the Strand is Back Thursday 27th July

One of SEEN’s favourite live music events, Rock the Strand, returns to Strand Palace Hotel on Thursday 27th July for a summer showcase featuring a stellar line-up of talented artists. Curated by industry mogul Tony Moore, Rock the Strand is a free music night that showcases an eclectic range of genres from indie alt-folk to country from emerging new talent and established acts, highlighting the UK’s varied and diverse musical landscape.

The July event kicks off at 7.30pm with music from folk guitarist Davide Sanna followed by soul and jazz artist CHA:DY. Fiery singer/songwriter ILONA will also warm up the crowd with her powerful vocals, before the legendary Tony Moore takes to the stage as headline act.

Situated in the hotel’s Lounge Bar revellers can indulge with tipples from the bar’s extensive drinks menu, which includes bottled beers, ciders, aperitifs and cocktails. Trust me, there’s no better place to be if this heat keeps up.

Davide Sanna is a London-based guitarist, singer songwriter, producer and performer from Sardinia. He combines styles that echo traditional folk roots mixed with his innovative approach to playing the guitar and composing.

CHA:DY is influenced by Erykah Badu, Adele and Amy Winehouse, CHA:DY’S music is a mix of Pop/R&B, with a bit of jazz & hip hop on top. CHA:DY has performed on famous stages in London, including  02 Academy Islington.

ILONA is originally from Bulgaria, but based in the UK for the past 10 years. ILONA has had a life that makes her unlike many others. With a rich blend of influences to draw on, combined with her passion for music and the ability to speak four languages fluently, she is truly a unique and original performer. Discovered by songwriter/producer Tony Moore three years ago, ILONA has since gone from performing her first solo gig of a single song live, to headlining festival stages and touring the UK and US.

Jack Francis is a singer/songwriter from Southampton, UK. Since starting to perform his music in public in March 2015, Jack has been steadily winning over new audiences with well crafted songs performed with raw passion. Having just completed recording on his first EP, he is now ready to bring is unique blend of folk, soul, country & Americana to a wider audience.

Tony Moore’s long and eclectic career in the music business includes being a founding member of Iron Maiden at the end of the 70s, and as the keyboard player in Cutting Crew. For the last few years he has also been co-writing, producing and touring the world with emerging artist ILONA. Tony is currently recording material for a solo album having just released the lead single, a powerful ballad called Perfect And Beautiful.

Fever-Tree’s Very Own Gin School

London has always had an enthusiastic relationship with gin; right from the days when the water was undrinkable, gin has become the city’s tipple of choice. Imagine SEEN’s joy therefore, when we heard that this month, gin and tonic experts, Fever-Tree, is launching its very own Fever-Tree Gin School.

Bufle: Launch of the Bubble-Waffle

SEEN has heard much of the phenomenon of the Asian Bubble-Waffle and thus was very keen to sample this Hong Kong import for herself. My guest and I found ourselves in a bright, buzzy bar/café with tables and plenty of counters and high stools. It’s in Rupert Street, between Soho and busy Leicester Square.

Arthur Hooper’s Weekend Brunch

SEEN has been a huge fan of Arthur Hooper’s since their May opening. It’s handily located close to Borough Market (where much of their ingredients are sourced), so it is with great delight that we hear weekend brunches are now on the menu too.

Not least because B&B Italia will launch their partnership with Arclinea high-end designer kitchens. The brand will also celebrate the UK debut of its 2017 collections, including the 20th anniversary edition of the iconic Charles seating system; all to be revealed with a new look for its B&B Italia London store on Brompton Road.
