Calling all Animators and Background Artists! Studio Ghibli Wants You!

Studio Ghibli’s fantasy aesthetic has inspired so many of the current generation of animators and background artists that it seems only appropriate that the iconic studio is actively seeking to recruit undiscovered artistic talent for Boro the Caterpillar, Hayao Miyazaki’s much-lauded return project that takes its full-length inspiration from a short film.

The film is set to be released in 2019, but the actual animation and background artwork begins this October. Applicants must be able to speak Japanese and commit to three-year contract. With a wage of 200,000 Yen per month, it’s a labour of love, but what a fabulous experience! Applications close on the 20th July, which gives potential applicants plenty of opportunity to research the processes and practice of Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. SEEN can only imagine that the competition will be intense, making Boro the Caterpillar truly spectacular.
