#Naked is Normal: Playboy Re-embraces the Nude

In a move that might have made Playboy migrate from the top shelf to a more eye-level position on newsstands, and gain more advertisers, the magazine stopped including full-frontal nudity in its format last year. The attempt to be more mainstream was made presumably to ring the changes and reverse the magazine’s declining sales.

Cooper Hefner (son of Hugh) has now decided that Playboy will once more embrace the nude, but with a more modern vibe, eschewing the rather dated portrayal of naked women with which Playboy made its name.

With a cover featuring Elizabeth Elam and an essay inside by Cooper Hefner about the new look of the brand, Playboy returns to its roots and the top shelf.
