SEEN was blown away recently by talented London-based singer-songwriter and multi instrumentalist, Calista Kazuko, who has announced that she will release her eagerly awaited new EP on the 17th of March 2017.

The ‘Project: Love Me’ EP was recorded in London at The Smokehouse in Tower Bridge with award-winning film composer Guy Dagul and features five brilliant new tracks including the forthcoming lead single ‘Poison’.  Dark, twisted, yet strangely uplifting, the tracks featured here explore an emotional fantasy that take you on an unexpected journey filled with passion, sophistication and drama, aided by Kazuko’s extraordinary presence. The camera loves her.

‘Poison’ is the first taste of what to expect from the EP and is set to be released on the 3rd of February. A cinematic soundscape filled with intensity and drama, the single comes backed with an equally beautiful, but macabre video, which was directed by Silent Tapes Films. SEEN has had a sneak preview of this single and can attest to its soaring beauty.

Growing up in a musical family, Calista began creating and performing her own music while studying classical and jazz piano at the Royal Academy of Music. Inspired by the sound and attitude of the likes of Kate Bush, Regina Spektor, Marina and the Diamonds, Bat for Lashes and St Vincent, she set about crafting her own sound and compositions.

Beautifully bold and aggressive, but with a vulnerable open femininity, the music recalls the likes of Siouxsie, Goldfrapp and (SEEN favourite) Diamanda Galas. The tracks featured on the debut EP are without doubt otherworldly; they will both confuse and delight and are all the better for it!

Having performed at sold-out shows from London’s Crazy Coqs to the infamous Viper Room in LA, Calista will launch what is expected to be a very busy year with a London date at The Notting Hill Arts Club on the 25th of January. More shows are set to be announced in the coming months.

My Furry Lady: the Art of Marion Peck at Dorothy Circus Gallery

SEEN can safely say that there is nowhere quite like Dorothy Circus Gallery in Notting Hill. It is the very antithesis of the white, clinical art gallery that abounds in the capital. From the beautiful yet disquieting pop surrealist art that is the passion of gallery director Alexandra Mazzanti, to the welcoming gallery itself complete …
