We Built This City

We Built This City started the London souvenir revolution back in November 2014, with their first pop-up shop on Carnaby Street, where both international visitors and locals were given the chance to take home a unique and lasting piece of the city. Finally, an alternative to the usual mass-produced tat! After an overwhelming response to their initial 8-week launch, We Built This City was invited back to Carnaby Street in Spring 2015, where they have remained ever since.

We Built This City sells artwork and products from over 300 home-grown creatives – supporting talented artists, designers & makers by giving them a platform to reach an otherwise untapped audience in a central London location. Offering everything from limited edition art prints to highly original pieces of London-inspired jewellery, homewares, stationery, and of course tea! Every product in the store has a creative nod to the city.

Their ravishing two-storey home was conceived by its founder Alice Mayor, who worked closely with freelance interior designer Hannah Franklin (also Style Editor at Livingetc Magazine). They came up with iconic items to creatively tell the story of London, such as market stalls, bricks and of course our beloved pigeons.

The artwork on their walls demonstrates an incredibly wide variety of styles.  The very nature of working with 300 creatives on a daily basis means their style is reassuringly eclectic!  Seeing how London is interpreted and celebrated through the eyes of different artists, designers and makers is what it’s all about.

London offers the most creative and diverse ways to spend your free time; from art exhibitions to outdoor spaces, new pop-up & immersive experiences to secret bars & supper clubs. Whether you’re a local Londoner or enamoured visitor – this is the most exciting city in the world. And if you’re after a unique and lasting souvenir of the city you love, there’s no better place to come than We Built This City on Carnaby Street!
