SEEN loves winter terraces, and Coppa Club’s giant igloos with their spectacular views down the River Thames sounds like a great place to dine, drink and party in London this winter. The perfect way to stay warm and cosy before (or after) your Christmas shopping o,r your tourist visit to the surrounding monuments.

Launched this week, seven giant igloos have ‘popped up’ in Coppa Club’s huge terrace overlooking the River Thames, where they will stay over the festive season. If you’re visiting the Design Museum in the morning – just minutes away – you can’t miss a visit to one of the most strikingly beautiful terraces in London. Wind down after shopping in nearby Borough Market or attending a show at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. It’s also perfect for some festive refuelling after a trip to the neighbouring Tower of London ice rink, or after touring the Tower Bridge, the Monument, the Shard, London Bridge…

You can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner in the privacy of your own igloo, safe from the elements. Snugly cocooned inside one of these stunning custom-made, fully-furnished and lit spaces, all complete with heating, sheepskin blankets and speakers. The igloos are transparent geodesic domes, available for private hire and also for walk-ins. Two of them are home to large tables of up to eight, whilst the other igloos are more suitable for smaller tables and lounge areas, ideal for snuggling up to each other during the chillier months.

As well as the full Coppa Club menu, you can now taste a new range of festive cocktails, including the Maple Old Fashioned and Spiced Berry Caipirissima and, of course, Traditional Hot Mulled Wine. Coppa Club’s Christmas menu, available between 16th November and 31st December, includes warming dishes such Coppa Porchetta with vin santo, raisins, clementines, roasting juices & rainbow chard; Slow Cooked Duck Leg with chorizo, butter beans, thyme and orange gremolata; and of course Roast Turkey with all the trimmings.

Sculpture in the City, Art for Everyone

SEEN thoroughly enjoyed a preview of the 18 new artworks around the financial district’s square mile. Set up by The City of London in 2010, this excellent initiative expands its footprint every year, improving the area and proving that when people are happy, they work better.

Alex Evans at the Foundry Gallery, Chelsea Quarter: LDF17

The astute reader will have noticed that SEEN loves art about London. There are many artists in this city who draw (pun intended) their inspiration from it, none more so than Alex Evans whose fractal renderings hint at the entropic nature of urban life and perhaps also our anxieties and isolation in the 21st century. His latest exhibition ‘Invisible Systems’ can be seen at the Foundry Gallery, tucked away off the King’s Road until 26th October.
