Juma: A Taste of Iraq

SEEN is delighted to see that Juma’s Iraqi themed supper clubs are coming to the noted ‘gastro-hub’ Cuckoo in London N1 throughout September. Of course, we’re spoilt here with all these lovely pop-ups, but you should avail yourselves of a mouth-watering cuisine that’s seldom available, though plenty of news comes from that region certainly is.

Philip Juma, who boasts English-Irish-Iraqi ancestry himself, wants to create a bridge between cultures and traditions by that most ancient of rituals: breaking bread with friends. The Cuckoo, with its large communal tables and cask ales sounds the perfect venue and follows on from Juma’s previous kitchen sell-out events, Philip’s own fortnightly column in the London Evening Standard and his demonstrations at the Borough Market. We are promised a full à-la-carte Iraqi menu and you can anticipate that SEEN will be reviewing.
