SEEN is thrilled to welcome Michelin-starred chef Eneko Atxa’s fresh modern Basque dishes to London. Highly anticipated yet informal, and opening in London’s One Aldwych Hotel — one of London’s most acclaimed luxury hotels — Eneko will officially launch on 1st September. Be the first to join their soft opening throughout August with 50% off food.

Eneko at One Aldwych marks an exciting departure for Eneko Atxa in this new London venture. Renowned for his three Michelin-starred Azurmendi in Bilbao and voted no.16 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Eneko’s lively new restaurant and wine bar is in bustling Covent Garden, right in the heart of London.

Anchovy Tempura

Showcasing his commitment to quality ingredients and precise execution, Eneko offers a simpler, more relaxed culinary concept deeply rooted in traditional Basque cooking. Starters feature the Txerri Boda Pork Festival – a flavoursome trio of Iberico Ham and Mushroom Duxelle in Milk Bread, Suckling Pig Brioche and Pig’s Trotter Bocata.

Main courses include Basque-style Hake Tempura, Red Pepper Sauce and Parsley Emulsion. If you’re neither pescatarian nor carnivore, no need to worry; there are highly creative vegetarian dishes such as Dressed Beetroot Tartare and Bomba Rice Risotto with Idiazabal Pesto. Is your mouth watering yet? SEEN’s certainly is. We’re also looking forward to trying Eneko’s signature Rice Pudding Lollipops with Crisp White and Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Coating for a heavenly finish to our meal.

The floating wine bar on the mezzanine is the perfect setting for you to enjoy the buzzing atmosphere, with a glass of wine from the carefully crafted Spanish list, including the house Gorka Izagirre Txakoli – a crisp white wine from Eneko’s own vineyards.

Memories of the Bay of Biscay

Eneko at One Aldwych is the first restaurant designed by award-winning London practice Casson Mann; as always, demonstrating their passion for bringing spaces, objects and ideas to life using narrative techniques that inform, engage and inspire their varied audiences. Here, they have created a relaxed, warm and inviting space by using wood and stone that has been sourced from craftsmen in the Basque region. The bespoke contemporary furniture and design of the interior space complements One Aldwych very well, promising the discerning diner an immersive experience.

Sculpture in the City, Art for Everyone

SEEN thoroughly enjoyed a preview of the 18 new artworks around the financial district’s square mile. Set up by The City of London in 2010, this excellent initiative expands its footprint every year, improving the area and proving that when people are happy, they work better.

Alex Evans at the Foundry Gallery, Chelsea Quarter: LDF17

The astute reader will have noticed that SEEN loves art about London. There are many artists in this city who draw (pun intended) their inspiration from it, none more so than Alex Evans whose fractal renderings hint at the entropic nature of urban life and perhaps also our anxieties and isolation in the 21st century. His latest exhibition ‘Invisible Systems’ can be seen at the Foundry Gallery, tucked away off the King’s Road until 26th October.
