SEEN’s magpie eye was recently caught by Evra Jewellery, specifically the fabulous Knock-Out rings. Designer Tamara Zantout has always sought to marry her life in London and her Lebanese background, as well as combining traditional and contemporary design. Her background in architecture (check out the Pyramid ring!) has made her passionate about form, whatever the scale. Inspired by her quest for identity as well as her travels, Zantout brings the cultures of East and West together in her creations. Every piece is unique, in its use of silver and gold, precious and semi-precious stones, past and present.

The latest Wanderlust range is perfect for wearing on its own or layered across the hand with other pieces for a truly bespoke look. A sharp digital cutout design like the Wonder ring, or something more organic and evocative of nature combined with stones, such as the Serpent Nair ring, make for a statement look that is sure to provoke attention in a summer of festivals and long evenings. SEEN feels these marvellous pieces will add a tough edge to a floaty summer look or dress up a simple tee and jeans. Knock-Out rings are luxe in their evocation of the Lebanon, yet somehow a bit ‘street’ as well, perfect for wearing in London.

Oh to be at Camino Bankside Now that Summer is Here

With temperatures set to soar as though it was 1976 (SEEN remembers sweltering through that), your best bet is to get anywhere by the river Thames, where the views are gobsmacking, and the food is fabulous. Like last year, London is awash with marvellous gins – and let’s remind ourselves, if you drink gin you are partaking in a resonant and historical pastime that is inextricably linked to London’s rich, vibrant and – dare we say it – dark past.

Kieren Hughes: Urban Dreamscape

SEEN was instantly captivated by the work of the Cheltenham-born artist Kieren Hughes recently. His unsettling images seem born of modern-day anxieties about urban living, as in Chicago Fever Dream or the privileges accrued by a rich elite, as in The Last Privilege of an Oil Man.
