Located on the top floor a 40-storey skyscraper at 110 Bishopsgate, completed in March 2011 and stretching 230m into the skyline (making it one of London’s tallest buildings), Duck & Waffle offers a unique blend of breathtaking London views with an intimate, welcoming, critically-acclaimed dining experience.

The two scenic lifts, accessed from a dedicated entrance on Bishopsgate, travel at 5 metres per second, reaching the summit in just 40 seconds. Acclaimed architects CetraRuddy designed the interior, which features wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook Olympic Park, the Tower of London and the Gherkin, a 24 seat ‘inside out’ bar, a bustling open kitchen and a private dining room that seats up to 18 people. The restaurant and the private dining room are the highest in the country, making London the perfect backdrop for your next special event.

The décor is also playfully injected with modern influences: stainless steel and frosted glass are juxtaposed with old-world materials including white marble, rustic metals, weathered wood and ceramic tiles.

The menu offers a cheeky twist on classic and well-known dishes underpinned by a super-seasonal approach spiked with British influences. Duck & Waffle takes traditional dishes and gives them a fresh, unpredictable slant such as Jellied Eels, Freshly-baked N’duja & Gruyère Bread, and Foie Gras Crème Brûlée. They serve a balance of the quirky and the conventional: think whole roast Sunday chicken versus spicy ox cheek doughnut.

He was a Top 10 finalist at Tales of the Cocktail in 2015 and 2016. He and Dan were named in the Progress 1000 Most Influential People in London in 2015 by the Evening Standard.

This month’s menu explores how vegetable flavours enhance the cocktail experience, making them a nutritious, healthy and occasionally sweet sip packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. So be prepared to drink your five-a-day: red onion, beetroot, carrot, artichoke, celery, and even bee pollen are amongst the Richard’s cocktail ingredients.

Sugarcane Raw Bar and Gril

With its sociable ambience, unparalleled views, artful interpretations of regional cuisine, unique cocktails and innovative design, Duck & Waffle embodies a top dining experience, in every sense of the word.

Sagardi: Pleasures of the Flesh

SEEN was reminded of what a privilege it is to meet chefs and butchers who are truly passionate and single-minded about the food they prepare and cook. Thus it was at Sagardi in Shoreditch, where the ravenous foodie press was assembled earlier this week, to witness the butchery of, and subsequent cooking over a splendid barbecue grill, of a side of ox.
